About Me
Hi, I’m the Merrycaker, also known as Ivria, an award-winning novelty and hyper-realistic cake artist hailing from Sutton in South London.
Cakes have always been my way of expressing love and sending love out into the world, and witnessing the happiness they can bring to others is truly wonderful.
My fascination began during my teenage years, a time predating the era of the Great British Bake Off and the convenience of finding unicorn-rainbow-dream sprinkles in your local supermarket. During these baking dark ages, I would obsessively pore over my father’s recipe card collection and attempt to decipher French websites, all in a quest to delve deeper into the world of the baking and pastry arts. Photographs of delicately blown sugar swans came to me like illustrations from E.T.A Hoffmann’s ‘The Nutcracker’, and it was as if my childhood imagination had come to life.

Fast forward through university and a series of office jobs to motherhood, where my career took a break and I decided to take the brave decision of translating my passion for cake decorating into a home business.
